a question below to learn the answer:
Because
we're a "Hybrid Church", we meet in different
modes, but always from 4:30pm-6pm. .
See more about our "Hybrid Church" model below.
Where
do you meet?
We rotate
between meeting all-together in larger gatherings at
the Tapestry Church location and in smaller gatherings
also at the Tapestry locationa & a local cafe. Click here to see the
calendar of where we are this Sunday.
Do
you have childcare?
Yes!
We currently have childcare for infants through kids
age 13. We provide this ministry for both our larger
and smaller gatherings. The kids sing songs,
learn a lesson from the Bible and do a craft. If you have
any questions, then email Susanna Aughtmon here.
How
should I dress?
Casual
is fine. Most people dress in jeans, shorts, etc.. If
you feel like dressing up that's cool too. However you
feel comfortable is best.
How
is your church different?
We believe
that the church is not a service you go to. It's not a place
you go to. The church is the people. In reality, you
can't do church or go to church. You can only be the church.
We do
not want to be just a group of strangers who sit together
on Sundays. We're a group of friends who want to be the
church, not just go to church.
We want
to be a diverse group of friends who are united in purpose
and love. We believe that success in life only comes when
you walk with God and others on the journey of life. (See
more here.)
How
We Are Different
We are experimenting with a "hybrid church" mode
where we are combining large gathering "worship experiences"
and house gathering "house church". We meet in
these different "modes" on different Sundays throughout
the year.
Why
This "Hybrid" Model?
We see
in Acts 2:36 that the first church met "in the
temple courts" (large gathering) and in houses
(house gathering). We have experienced the strength of both
of these modes with our church and believe that by combining
them both we can be a stronger church.
Strengths
Of Each Mode
Large Gathering = Gives us strength, extends our "reach",
unity, common focus and direction
House Gathering = Gives us depth, community, people to cheer
us on in life.
For
our larger gatherings (LGs), we currently meet at
the fellowship hall of Tapestry Church in Redwood City.
(See more about it here.) We meet from 4:30pm-6pm and
gather for refreshments before we worship and hear a talk.
For
our smaller gatherings (SGs), we still meet from
4:30pm-6pm but we meet at 2 locations on these
Sundays. Single & married people with kids
(and *first time guests) meet at the Tapestry
location and our single & married people without
kids meet at a cafe right down the road.. Email
us to find out what/where the nearest SG group is to you.
What
is a typical Sunday like?
A
Typical Larger Gathering/4:30pm-6pm - After "Refreshment
Time", we come together for a 20-25 minute worship
time. The music is upbeat and contemporary. It's a time
where you can focus on God and worship him. (You are free
to just observe if this is all new to you.)
We then
will have a few announcements and receive any tithes or
offerings. (This is ONLY for regular "Pathwayers"
as a way to continue in worship to God. Guests are encouraged
to NOT give.)
We will
then normally have a sermon that is 30-40 minutes in length.
The sermons are given in a conversational way and are presented
to give you practical, action-steps from God's word.
A Typical Smaller Gathering/4:30pm-6pm - After "Refreshment
Time", we open with prayer, offering and announcements.
(The offering is
ONLY for regular "Pathwayers" as a way to continue
in worship to God. Guests are encouraged to NOT give.)
We will then have a time where we respond to fun "connecting
questions". (These are "ice breaker"/get-to-know-you
type questions.)
We will
then normally have "SOAP Discussion Time"
that is 40 minutes in length.
What is "SOAP"? It stands for "Scripture",
"Observation", "Application", and "Prayer".
We
begin by reading the passage of scripture to ourselves and
then writing down an paraphrase or synopsis of the passage.
We then go around and let some of the people who'd like
to share what they wrote do that. We then allow people to
share what they observe that stands out to them in the passage.
We then have people share ways they have applied the truth
of the passage in their lives or how we can apply it in
our lives. We end by pray for anyone who has needs and asking
God to help us live out the truth in that passage.
Are
you shy? Don't worry. No one is forced to speak. You
can just come and observe when you come! :)
What's
your church's story?
We're
a relatively new church. Our first public gathering was
January 23, 2005. If you want to be on the ground floor
of something new on the Peninsula, then come check us out!
